PhD Candidate (2022-current; co-advised by Dr. Jenny McCune)
I am studying four at-risk plant species in the Carolinian forest of southern Ontario: goldenseal, green dragon, spotted wintergreen, and wood-poppy. For my research, I am constructing integral projection models for several populations of each of these species to understand how these populations are changing. In addition, I have been collecting data on environmental factors to test whether there is a link between the population growth rates and environmental drivers. I am also attempting to construct integrated population models for my study populations of these species, as these have not often been used for plant populations.
I completed my BA in Biology at Bryn Mawr College in 2016 and then my MS in Biology at Arizona State University in 2018, where I researched precipitation effects on above- versus below-ground plant growth in the Chihuahuan Desert. After working in a soil ecology lab for a few years, I moved to Lethbridge, AB to start my PhD.
